Jerry Johns

Jeremy Johns is a publisher, author and Cornish historian who has spent the last 20 years researching the events involving Polperro smuggling and privateering activities  that took place during the Napoleonic wars. His publications include Polperro's Smuggling Story, The Smugglers' Banker and, more recently, Doctor By Nature: Jonathan Couch - Surgeon of Polperro.

A direct descendant of some of the Polperro families involved, he is currently Managing Editor of the Polperro Heritage Press in Worcestershire, but was formerly Head of Press and Public Affairs for the BBC's English Regions.

He is a member of the Cornwall Association of Local Historians; the Royal Institution of Cornwall, the Society for Nautical Research, and the South West Maritime History Society.
